شوط يکي از شهرهاي استان آذربايجان غربي ايران است. اين شهر در مرکز شهرستان شوط و در 4 کيلومتري کناره جنوبي رودخانه زنگبار جاي دارد. جمعيت شهر شوط در سال 1385 برابر با 19,759 نفر بوده‌است.

شوط از سوي شمال غربي با ماکو، از شمال شرقي با پلدشت از طرف جنوب غربي با چالدران و از سوي جنوب شرقي با قره‌ضياءالدين همسايه‌است.

نامگذاري
وجه تسميه شهر برگرفته از کلمه «آشوط» ارمني است. با اين حال امروزه هيچ ارمني زباني در اين شهر ساکن نيست.اين ناحيه در ادوار طولاني ساکنان ارمني زبان داشته‌است که هنوز نام‌هاي شهرها و آبادي‌هاي بسياري دراطراف شوط و ماکو مي‌توان پيدا کرد که ريشه ارمني دارند. مثل تمام روستاهايي که به «جوق» ختم مي‌شوند: باغچه جوق، آوا جوق، قلاع جوق. در زمان حاکميت پهلوي نام شهر در اسناد دولتي به شاه آباد تغيير يافت.اما بعد از پيروزي انقلاب اسلامي در سال 1357 بار ديگر شهر به همان نام سابق خود ناميده شد. با توجه به اينکه از خروج ارامنه از اين منطقه قرن‌ها مي‌گذرد ولي اين نام بي ترديد خود نشان از قدمت و سابقه ديرين سکونتي شهر دارد.

از بناهاي تاريخي و فرهنگي شهر در دوره‌هاي گذشته چيز مهمي برجاي نمانده‌است. شايد تنها بناي قابل ذکر «بناي عمارت خان» در روستاي خوک (آخرين آبادي خان نشين منطقه) واقع در 5 کيلومتري شوط مي‌باشد که نمونه بارزي از بناهاي عمارتي اواخر قاجار و اوايل پهلوي است که بعلت استفاده شخصي و مسکوني در حال تخريب است.

جاذبه‌هاي طبيعي
از جاهاي ديدني اين شهر، آبگرم معدني ايسي سو مي‌باشد. اين آبگرم در بالاي تپه‌اي قرار گرفته که از دو جاي تپه، آبگرم و از وسط آن آب سردي از دل خاک بيرون مي‌آيد
